In den Erec-Romanen stützen gelehrte bildhafte Abschnitte die erkenntnisleitende Funktion der Romanstruktur. Gehen in ihnen die epische Tradition der Ekphrasis und die schulische der kosmologischen Diagramme vor dem Hintergrund "platonischen" Denkens ineinander auf? In die Argumentation einbezogen werden Rodulf Glaber und die Weltkarten des Lucidarius.In the Erec romances, the narrative's structure is reinforced by the use of learned and visually rich passages. Can one trace in these passages a reconciliation — against the background of "platonic" thought — between the epic tradition of the Ekphrasis and the scholastic tradition of the cosmological diagram? Rodulf Glaber and the "mappaemundi" of the Lucidarius will also be part of the argument.
