Liat Lavi

Postdoc researcher at Bar Ilan University and lecturer at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. Liat’s doctorate dissertation, “The Meaning of Meaning in William James’s Thought: A Phenomenological Account” was supervised by Prof. Yuval Dolev of the Philosophy Department at Bar Ilan University. Her current research projects look into contemporary subjects, esp. predictive processing theory, radical embodiment and artificial intelligence, implementing crucial insights from James’ pragmatism and phenomenology. Her education includes BAs in Law, Economics and Fine Art (praxis), and a Master’s degree in Hermeneutics and Cultural Studies.


Research interests: Phenomenology, Pragmatism, Embodiment, Predictive Processing Theory, Philosophy of AI, Philosophy of Art, Philosophy of Photography, Critical thought and culture studies
