(2017) Bourdieu's theory of the state, Dordrecht, Springer.
This chapter argues that in order to understand Bourdieu's theory of the state, we need to place it in the context of earlier classical and modern theories of the state. To that end, the classical theories of Marx, Weber and Durkheim are outlined in addition to modern theories that Bourdieu draws upon and refutes including Elias, Tilly and Corrigan and Sayer.
