Measuring morality

Jesse Prinz

pp. 43-59

Whether in our minds or "out there", morality is part of the world. Like everything that exists, morality can be studied empirically. This follows from the positivist platitude that existing things can be measured, either directly or indirectly, by observational means. The applicability of empirical methods to morality should be no more surprising that the applicability of empirical methods to geology or economics.
