Disappointment as an Essential Moment of Expectation Our considerations did not have any bearing on the direction of the future. While streaming consciousness constantly projects a protentional horizon ahead of itself, it is not clear that this prefiguring should be so determined and so compelling that we are able to say that a norm of true being as a binding one is secured
