From its inception, philosophy has understood itself in relation to and in separation from poetry. Living on two separate mountains, as Hölderlin suggests, thinking and poeticizing nevertheless share a particular provenance in language and perhaps even a concern for truth. As Heidegger insists, poetry and philosophy offer their own proper unique word, compelling the reader “to perceive this word again and again as if we were hearing it for the first time.” This Collegium is concerned with exploring this particular relation between the poetic and the philosophical word and the interplay of philosophy and poetry as well as of truth and language that follows from it.

Main Program
The core of the program consists in a series of lectures courses, individual lectures, and intensive text-based seminars. A participants’ conference will be held in conjunction with the Collegium on July 6-7. Participants are expected to partake for the full three weeks.

Practicalities
Participants will be comfortably housed at Hotel Le Mura in the historic center of Città di Castello. The cost for room and board (half pension = breakfast & dinner) for participants will be €48 (double occupancy) and €60 (single room) per day. The program fee for the three-week session will be €275.
